English for Erasmus Communication

The English for Erasmus Communication course is aimed at staff from educational institutions with an English language level of B2/C1 who wish to develop their English language and intercultural communication skills, especially for participating in Erasmus projects.

This ‘on request’ course runs for 25 hours per week in the UNESCO world heritage city of Bath, UK and is delivered in a spacious and comfortable facility that provides wifi access and free refreshments.It is eligible for Erasmus funding such as KA1.

We invite teachers to request course dates as early as possible.

Group Course

With a minimum of two teachers we will open up a fixed-date one or two week group course at the group participant rate. If you need a group course but can only send one teacher, we recommend contacting us several months (4-6) in advance and being as flexible as possible with your dates.

Typical Course Outcomes

The exact focus of the course depends on the mix of participants so when you apply we will ask you to give us some detail about your specific course aims; however below are some examples of typical course outcomes:

*More confident speaking skills

*More accurate and appropriate writing skills

*Broader vocabulary for discussing (or micro-teaching if desired) a range of issues such as: youth, education, culture, work and society, migration, business, politics, economics

*Raised awareness of cross-cultural communication concepts and (secondary/tertiary) classroom activities

*More focussed strategies for finding partners and creating a project

*A set of customised marketing and correspondence materials for your institution

Course Materials

All course materials will be provided, except for those for participants’ own activities.

Cultural Visits

To celebrate the CULTURAL HERITAGE of Bath your course will include a visit to the world famous Roman Baths and the Georgian museum No 1 in Bath’s stunning Royal Crescent. 

EMB can help participants to plan and book evening and weekend cultural activities to enhance their cultural experience and promote the use of English outside the classroom.

One to One course €990 per week

This includes the booking fee but does not include accommodation. See below.

Erasmus Documentation

We’ll provide your teaching institution with the necessary course information to complete its Erasmus documentation before or during the course, as desired.

At the end of the course you will receive an EMB English for Erasmus  Communication course certificate.

Application / Preparation

Please note: This course is for B2 / C1 level participants.

Give your: name(s) / language level, name and address of your institution / preferred course date(s). 

2 We will send you a course factsheet and application form. Complete and return it asap!

3 We will send you a course registration document if your course is confirmed or we will open up a new course date and send the document when it is confirmed. 

4 Have a Skype or Whatsapp chat with us to clarify your exact needs if needed.

5 We will send you a host family profile and contact details (if applicable)

6 We send invoices approx two months before the course to be paid one month before the course. 

7 We send final joining information and a programme shortly before the course. 

 

Accommodation

image of English Means Business Host FamilyStay with one of our friendly host families to give you the ‘total immersion’ experience! A host family stay guarantees you an authentic taste of Bath life and provides the opportunity for conversation and friendship building.  

Our host families are couples or single people who generally do not have children living at home. They live within a 30-minute walk of the course venue. Our host family charge including breakfast and dinner is £340 / €400 for 5 to 7 nights. It is important to book early to guarantee a host family.

Over the summer holiday period we hope to provide families at a reduced fee of €350 based on distance to the course, amenities, etc.
